How to Manage Your Social Media if Going on Vacation

Wondering if scheduling social media before a vacation works and why I’m talking about it?

The answers are “YES it works” and I’m talking about this Vacation Instagram Strategy because I’m heading overseas in just a few days & will be actioning all of these steps myself. And I’ve done it all before when I’ve needed to step away from my business for health or other reasons. The strategies I’m sharing are easy and fast to set up. It’s time to get excited if you’re about to travel & add these easy actionable steps to your to-do list before you head to the airport. They will save you from the temptation to scroll aimlessly through social media whilst on vacation.

Make sure you set your social media post to auto-publish while you are away!

• Choose a META Verified Scheduling App for Instagram & Facebook
• Make sure your website link in bio is up to date so  you mention the link in bio in your caption 
• If you’re scheduling stories make sure you include a call to action ‘link in bio’ in your graphic design because you can’t use the sticker features

It is recommended that you only schedule feed posts, carousels or reels that don’t need trending audio to post while you’re away!

• You can pre-record video stories talking to the camera that don’t require links or stickers to auto-publish.
• Include a  text bubble that reads link in bio for all scheduled posts to avoid DMs as your call to action.

Switch on your away-from-office email reply with your travel dates included and alternative contacts for people. You should also head into your Meta account and set up an away message for DMs.

• Setting up an Away message for Facebook and Instagram is a game changer! Your app will reply for you automatically.
• In your message you need to include that you are away from the salon, when you will return, and how to make appointments whilst you’re away, including the salon phone number or booking link.
