Low self-esteem and lack of confidence can contribute to insecurities about showing your face online. The fear of not meeting perceived standards or receiving negative comments can hinder self-expression. A positive step to combat this fear is to practice filming yourself talking to the camera using a tripod to hold your phone and simply imagining you’re talking to a client. You are talking to one person and providing that one person with some valuable information that helps them. As you practice and get more comfortable with this process you will realise this is something you do already in the salon environment with your actual clients.
Please be kind to yourself. Always remember it doesn’t have to be perfect. Nobody is expecting you to be perfect. Every time you film yourself for a reel or an Instagram live you become more confident. My goal is to help you feel more comfortable and make more money by speaking to your dream clients.
STEPS FOR GOING LIVE ON INSTAGRAM:
- Open Instagram: Make sure you have the Instagram app installed on your device. If you don't have it, download it from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Log In: Open the Instagram app and log in to your account if you're not already logged in.
- Go to the Home Screen: Tap on the home icon at the bottom of the screen to go to your Instagram feed.
- Swipe Right or Tap Your Profile Picture: You can swipe right on the home screen or tap on your profile picture in the Stories section at the top of the screen.
- Select “Live” Mode: Once in the camera mode, swipe the camera options at the bottom until you reach “Live” mode. It usually has a “Start Live Video” option.
- Set Up Your Live Video: Before going live, you can choose the settings for your video. Write a compelling title to attract viewers, add a location, and set up any other preferences, including a filter or check your lighting is good.
- Tap “Start Live Video”: When you're ready to go live, tap the “Start Live Video” button. Instagram will count down from three, giving you a moment to prepare. Start smiling as soon as that countdown starts.
- Go Live: Once the countdown is complete, you'll be live on Instagram. Your followers will be notified that you're live, and they can join your broadcast.
- Engage with Viewers: While you're live, you can see comments from viewers in real-time. Respond to comments and engage with your audience to make the broadcast interactive and enjoyable.
- End Your Live Video: When you're ready to end the live video, tap the “End” button. You'll have the option to share the video to your feed or discard it. If you choose to share it, it will be available on your Instagram grid for further viewing.
