Toners & Glazes within Hair Painting for Redheads is different to colouring brunettes & blondes because you're ENHANCING the colour instead of COUNTERACTING unwanted undertones.

Red & Copper toning or glazing can also be deposited to go darker or to add brightness, again this is different to going darker with brunettes where you only need to factor in the level (not reflect of reds being different on every level). This is where I think a lot of us get confused if we need a permanent or a semi, so let's troubleshoot this together in this colourful conversation.

4 SEMI-PERMANENT FORMULAS FOR REVIVING RED HAIRCOLOUR

These recipes work really well on faded red permanent tints with keywords to help you decipher what the client is looking for: 

• Go brighter > mix 1/2 6 level RED and 1/2 7 Level Copper intense or orange
• Refresh fade > mix Level 6 Red
• Go richer > mix Level 6 Auburn (brownish red) 
• If your client is requesting a darker richer Red > mix 1/2 5 Level Red-Violet  and 1/2 Level 6 Red
