I love everything about colour. The science, the creativity, the problem-solving, and that moment when a formula you've carefully planned turns out exactly how you imagined.

I've spent more than three decades behind the chair, sharing my knowledge with hairdressers around the world and building a career doing what I love most.

Reds and Coppers are my happy place. Throw in a complicated colour correction and I'm probably having a very good day.

These days, you'll find me colouring clients at AH Salon in Surry Hills, Sydney, teaching hairdressers online and in salons, collaborating with professional hair brands, or behind the microphone recording my Colour Kristina Talks podcast.

And yes, I'm still learning, experimenting and finding new things to get excited about.

FROM BEHIND THE CHAIR TO THE WORLD STAGE

Hair colour has taken me to some pretty incredible places.

I've had the privilege of educating and creating hair colour on international stages in Las Vegas, New York, Stockholm and Singapore, as well as throughout Australia and New Zealand.

For many years, I worked as a Redken Global Platform Artist, sharing colour education with hairdressers internationally.

Since stepping into independent education in 2017, I've continued teaching and collaborating with professional brands and education partners, including K18, Kevin.Murphy, Ozdare Education, KIN Cosmetics, MUVO and EDU Conceptual Brands.

I've also presented at industry events including Hair Festival and Hair The Movement, alongside delivering practical, hands-on education in salons across Australia.

In 2010, I was awarded Australian Hair Expo Colour Technician of the Year, a career highlight I'll always be proud of.

I've since been recognised as a multiple-time finalist for Independent Educator of the Year at the Australian Hair Industry Awards, and more recently as a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Digital Hair Awards.

The awards are lovely, of course. But what I love most is watching a hairdresser have that lightbulb moment when colour theory finally clicks.

MAKING HAIR COLOUR MAKE SENSE

Here's something I believe strongly: you shouldn't need someone else's formula to create beautiful hair colour.

You need to understand what you're mixing, why you're mixing it and how to adapt it to the hair sitting in your chair.

Because let's face it, clients don't all walk in with the same starting canvas, and hair colour doesn't always behave as nicely as we'd like.

My education is grounded in colour theory, formulation and creative problem-solving, with a particular love for Reds, Coppers and Strawberry Blondes.

I teach brand-neutral colour principles that you can apply using the professional colour products you already work with.

It's also why I developed my signature 5-6-7-8 Redhead Levelling System, helping hairdressers better understand colour depth, tone and formulation for predictable red and copper results.

Through online courses, in-salon training, webinars, workshops and free educational resources, I help hairdressers develop their technical knowledge and become more confident, creative colourists.

Whether you're just starting to explore copper formulations or you've been colouring hair for years, there's always something new to learn.

And I love that about our industry.

STILL BEHIND THE CHAIR

While education has taken me around the world, working with real salon clients is still a huge part of what I do.

I'm currently the Colour Director at AH Salon in Surry Hills, Sydney, where I specialise in Reds, Coppers, Strawberry Blondes, customised Blondes, Pastels and corrective colour.

I love creating personalised colour transformations, from natural, lived-in copper tones to vibrant Reds and those tricky colour corrections that require a little extra brainpower.

Working behind the chair keeps my education real.

I'm not just talking about colour theory. I'm mixing, painting, experimenting and solving colour challenges every week.

And sometimes, I'm learning something new right alongside my students.

MORE THAN JUST HAIR

I believe hairdressing is about so much more than beautiful hair.

It's about confidence, creativity, self-expression and making people feel welcome to be exactly who they are.

As an Australian Ambassador for The Dresscode Project, I've advocated for gender-affirming hair services, inclusive salon environments and gender-free pricing.

I'm also passionate about helping hairdressers build fulfilling, sustainable careers, not just improve their technical skills.

That's one of the reasons I created Colour Kristina Talks, my podcast for hairdressers and salon owners.

It's a space for colour education, honest industry conversations, creative inspiration and discussions about the business of hairdressing.

Because knowledge is meant to be shared, not guarded like some top-secret colour formula.

A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME

I take my hair colour seriously. Myself? Not quite so much.

I love a good espresso. No messing around.

Peanut butter on toast is an excellent breakfast, but there MUST be butter underneath. Always butter. I'm not taking questions on this.

I could happily talk about red and copper formulas for hours. Which probably explains why I started a podcast.

I love creative people, curious minds and hairdressers who aren't afraid to ask WHY.

I believe hair colour should be fun, education should be accessible and salons should be welcoming spaces for everyone.

And after more than 30 years in this industry, I still get ridiculously excited about a beautiful colour transformation.

Some things never change.
