Abundance

Abundance doesn't have to be about money. It can be abundance in joy, abundance of money, abundance of clients in the salon, abundance of quality family time, abundance of time with friends, or abundance of anything you are striving for. It is the bigger picture stuff.

I know you are probably wondering what is an Abundance Mentor? I was wondering the same thing before I interviewed Laura for the podcast. She not only teaches hairdressers how to scale their biz, but also something else that is so necessary to thrive… and that is mindfulness and tips on how to avoid burnout.

Laura Symons has been mentoring hairstylists for 3 years, in different capacities. Over the last 18 months she has taken her business online and has hosted multiple group coaching programs, as well masterminds. Inspiring hairstylists to chase their dreams by growing in their self confidence first, and then she helps her students to break down old pardigms and beliefs with clear goals to help you thrive.

How to avoid burn out as a hairdresser

Hairdressers are infamous for over committing, over working & over obligating themselves. Would you like to learn how to avoid burnout? Or perhaps you feel like you need to say “yes” all the time and then end up regretting it.

We discuss burnout and how to avoid feeling frustrated about having to turn up all the time. It's important to be clear on boundaries in both your personal and professional life. This is where non-negotiables come up for us hairdressers that are people pleasers. We need to set up structure that is workable.

Do you want longevity in the hair industry? If your answer is a firm”yes”, you must consider your mindset and goals for where you are in your career. These need to be fine tuned and check from time to time.

You can be a sprinter or a marathon runner, but you cannot be a sprinter through the marathon. If this resonates for you… keep reading hair lovers, freelancers, biz owners, new emerging talent and experienced salon owners. Boundaries + goal setting is something we must revisit and adjust continuously throughout our careers if we want succes in abundance.

key points discussed in this interview we want you to consider

  • Non negotiables (what are they for you and how to set clear boundaries)
  • Time alone – do you prioritise yourself and your needs?
  • Journalling
  • How do you fill your cup up when not in the salon?
  • How much time dedicated to education outside the salon?
  • What you are open to doing in the salon? (hours, tasks, goals, targets, techniques)
  • What does success look like for you? What is your version of this? We chat about how it's great to work backwards from your goals and share tips for how to get help along the way.
