What we'll be talking about

In this episode, we’re talking about Instagram and social media strategy and why you need one.

We are talking with the Founder of Melbourne Hair Blogger and Social Salon School, Nicole Healy. She has been in the Hair Industry for over 19 years and with a career in Hairdressing for 16 years as an Award-Winning Colourist and Hair Stylist, now specializes in Coaching, and she is excited to share her knowledge with you.

With a combined Following on Social Media of more than 120,000 people and Finalist for Hair Educator of the Year 2020 and Digital Influencer in her Industry in 2019 and 2020, her engaged audience knows her for what she does best… Educating how to grow online.

I can personally recommend her Social Salon School membership. I have been a member for nearly 2 years now & have witnessed her coaching first hand to help her community-scale their business and know how to track what’s working to keep repeating or figure out what is not working to stop doing. Practical advice with actionable steps is how I would describe her approach to training our industry using social media.

Social Salon School Video Strategies

Are you keen to create social media posts that go viral? We all know that some people have tremendous success with social media and others continue to find it overwhelming and confusing. Perhaps you have experienced both ends of the spectrum from time to time, and that’s OK!

This is why it’s important to take one step at a time & track what’s working for you and your brand. Change one aspect of your strategy at a time and record what type of posts are getting the most engagement and/or new client inquiries. Get clear on your goals and create posts that help you achieve them.

What exactly is the secret to creating a viral post? Things that go viral are things that people save. If you are trying to create viral posts you want to make content that other people love so much they are saving it, sharing it, and double tapping and commenting. The secret lies in posts that people want to save. Think about your brand. There are opportunities to promote your personality and offerings & there are options for introverts and extroverts.

Social Media has frequently been changing and all the updates can be difficult to navigate without the right support from a coach or education. I highly recommend Nicole Healy’s online coaching and lessons included with Social Salon School for a weekly dose of learning with accountability and actionable steps. NICOLE HEALY’S TIPS FOR UPDATING YOUR INSTAGRAM:

  • The first & second Instagram stories you do each day should either have a poll or a quiz sticker added to them to increase viewer engagement
  •  It is better to create quality posts, even if there is only 2-3 posts per week with valuable content and a CTA (call to action) as opposed to trying to post daily
  • You must credit anyone else's work if you are reposting content from another IG account
  • The best tip for sharing or reposting someone else's post in your stories  is to make sure you credit the artist and another thing is to add their IG handle as a tag in the stories to help your followers easily find the artist you are tagging
  • IGTV is great for lover educational posts
  • Instagram Reels allows users to create engaging, fun, and short videos. Some accounts have up to 60 second Reels permitted, and others 30 seconds, however, 7-11 seconds is the sweet spot for the ideal length for a Reel. Keep in mind it’s a fun entertainment style of post!
  • Instagram Stories are supposed to be FUN! These are your personal stories, brand personality, and the stuff that is not perfect or suitable for your main feed because they disappear after 24 hours
