Show notes for episode 188
In my multi-award-winning career as a Hair Colourist and Educator, I've discovered there are only four lowlight formulas you'll ever need to know. These formulas are designed to deposit darker colour into the hair and fill it in one process when low lighting. This approach works across various colour ranges and has been tried and tested on thousands of heads with consistent success. Having worked on clients for 30 years, I've relied on these four formulas for successful colour corrections.
LET’S MEET OUR GUEST – Victoria Domazet
Victoria Domazet is a multi-award finalist and an innovative educator with over 20 years of experience in hairdressing and education. She teaches hairdressers how to leverage affiliate programs and digital tools to sell retail without stocking products. Victoria’s mission is to make retail accessible, profitable, and stress-free for all hairdressers—whether in salons or online—empowering them to connect clients with the best products while earning pure profit. Her programs and mentoring are helping hairdressers worldwide embrace the future of retail in our industry.
WHAT IS DIGITAL RETAIL:
Digital retail is the future of selling salon products, and it’s simpler than you might think. Unlike traditional retail—where you become a stockist, purchase inventory, and then sell it—digital retail eliminates the need for stock shelves.
Instead, you become an affiliate. When you recommend a product to a client, you share your unique affiliate code. The client purchases the product online using your code, and you earn a commission. No inventory, no storage, and no upfront costs.
Victoria explained that this approach is game-changing because it’s now possible for hairstylists—many of whom can’t afford to carry stock—to enter the retail space. “In the past, if a client asked about a product, we’d show them what they needed, and they might end up buying it elsewhere. Digital retail changes this dynamic by making you the trusted source for their purchase, both in person and online.”
Hot tips for digital retail setup success:
Getting started with digital retail is easier than you might think, even if you’re not tech-savvy. Victoria shared a simple first step: Watch her free 11-minute seminar (links and resources are shared below this blog). By the end of it, you’ll understand the basics of affiliate codes, digital links, and QR codes—and how to use them to your advantage.
She emphasised that hairdressers already have a major advantage: trust. “Hairdressers have the trust of their community. It’s not about how many Instagram followers you have; it’s about the relationships you’ve built with your clients.”
FAQ: Do You Need a Big Social Media Following?
The short answer? No. Victoria busted the myth that you need to be an influencer to succeed in digital retail. Instead, she explained that brands are looking for hairstylists who can create specific types of content to showcase their products.
Think of your social media as your “digital retail shelf.” Whether you have 50 followers or 15,000, what matters is the quality of your content and how well it represents your brand. Victoria’s 7-step online course teaches hairdressers how to build a strong social media presence and attract brands, even if you’re just starting out.
