What is strategic design and branding?
Branding for your salon and your personal brand are both hugely important for your success as a Hairdresser! If you’re struggling to know how to create a brand and who your dream client is. It’s time to think of your business as a person (or an avatar),including where do they shop, how do they walk, where did they grow up, what type of hair do they like, and start speaking to that person in all your branded marketing.
Think of strategic branding as really defining your purpose, your mission statement, your brand vision and your ‘WHY’ as a brand. If you don’t know this it’s not too late to do this now.
A mission statement helps you to know why you are different to others. Once you know this you can share it with the world to attract dream clients to your business.
5 WAYS TO GET YOUR BRAND TO STAND OUT:
- Show your human side – try to bring the human element into your socials to help be relatable to help people connect with your business and your brand
- Try to be bold and take risk, eg: take graphic and branding risks, such as a neon splash
- Share your story. Share how you got to where you are today. Talk about your challenges at hair school and how you overcame them
- Apply your branding to every touch point (start this now) – setup a branded email signature, keep your social media profile images really consistent (make sure it is the same one on every platform -tiktok, facebook, instagram)
- Find your USP – your unique selling point
BRANDING MISTAKES TO AVOID:
- A mistake is to stop working with your brand fonts and colours and fall off those brand guidelines. Make sure you stick to your brand guidelines
- Sticking with a cheap brand aesthetic can be limiting to your brand. Avoid fiverr and Upwork and try to invest in a brand designer that elevates your brand
- Another mistake is overpromising your brand and not living up to your brand promise because this will lead to customers not coming back
